How to Solve Autel Honda Odyssey "Immo system not normal"?

Question:

Had a 2012 Honda Odyssey, the car starts but shuts off. And the green light is flashing. Then saw at the top of the aftermarket key there was a whole like something fell out. Took the key to my locksmith and he gave me a new uncut key that has a transponder and said I could try holding the 2 keys together and program the new transponder just so I could drive it to his shop where he would then just cut the new key.

When I hooked up my Autel MS906BT and went to the function to program the key it says this. I’m not sure what to do now, and how to have his guy come out and program it

Here is the Possible Solution:

Try to remember what the Honda there is the HO-01, 03, and a 05

1)The first thing is to make sure that the key has the correct type of transponder.

2)then you can take the uncut key and cut it. Make sure it works to turn the cylinder.

3)Now you have a physically working key and the correct transponder so you should be able to do a "all keys lost" and program a new key.

HO03 is the 46 chip that is needed.

Make sure there are no codes stored for the immobilizer also as that could interfere.

If you have the XP400 Pro, you can scan the key to make sure it's a 46 chip as my IM508 is confirming that after 2009 it should be the 46 chip .

Do a system scan and see if it shows any red immobilizer issues.

If you see anything in red, you'll have to find that "quick erase DTC "and clear it first

With the XP400 you can confirm the type of chip. I don't know what you have. And sorry for all the run-on messages.

Just as a side note, if you turn the ignition on with a key that had no chip, that is why your programmer might be saying that the "immobilizer is not normal ". You might just have to do the quick clear to clean out any codes like an key with no chip. You can try and use the physically working key to turn on the ignition, while trying to program the uncut key by holding the transponder head of the key up to the ignition cylinder. If it lets you program it that way then you have programmed the uncut key, and once the car is started, you can drive it and drop the uncut programmed transponder key into the cup holder until you get to a locksmith to cut it for you. However, Honda Key can be tricky so I would advise trying to get the key cut first to make sure it works in the cylinder. Just my side note because even when I try to pick and decode Honda Keys  they are notorious for wearing down.

Feedback:

Had my locksmith cut the key and as soon as I put the unprogrammed key in the ignition and hooked up the scanner, the system check message was no longer there. I erased all keys and was able to easily program the new key.

Done!
